You may have seen some Dunkin’ Donuts employees offering up samples while you were waiting in line or at the drive-thru at one of their many locations. You may have seen signs put up around their stores or even digital ads on Twitter or Instagram.

Recently, Dunkin’ Donuts has come out with their new cold brew coffee. According to their own website, this is a slow-brewed coffee that is supposed to have a much more rich flavor that an avid coffee drinker would enjoy.

They also put out a news release on their site before its debut, but if you want the short version of what this product is, read on.

Cold brew coffee can only be made in-house and is usually sitting overnight being brewed with cold water instead of hot water. This is simply done to create coffee with a different taste.

When I set out to try this product, I considered the fact that Starbucks also released their own cold brew shortly after Dunkin’ Donuts did. I decided ultimately on Dunkin’ for a few reasons.

Dunkin’ is a much cheaper option than Starbucks, but it never sacrifices the quality of its products for the ability to sell them at a lower price. Starbucks is said to have more caffeinated coffee that Dunkin’, but that does not mean that many cannot still enjoy the coffee for the taste and knowing they are getting a good deal with it.

Next, I trusted the brand that is Dunkin’ Donuts. It is a familiar place that I have gone to for years and wanted to try this brew for the first time from their store. So, with that I give my official review for their cold brew coffee.

At first, I was skeptical because it seemed to me to be just like iced coffee. But when I drank it, I realized it was not. The flavor is different than that of iced coffee. Iced coffee, to me, seems to have a watered- down taste and is not as bitter as regular, black coffee.

This drink tasted like regular coffee, but with more of a full flavor. The cold water brings out something in this brew that regular coffee simply lacks.

You can also get the cold brew in flavors. I got vanilla and that did not cover up richness of the coffee. It tasted like the vanilla was working with the coffee taste instead of trying to eliminate it, like what normally happens when people add flavoring.

Cold brewing coffee is also said to lower the amount of caffeine. Oddly, it did not seem decaffeinated or missing a significant amount of caffeine to keep me awake. I felt like I was getting the normal amount of caffeine that I would get drinking regular, hot coffee.

Overall, I was very impressed with Dunkin’s take on this drink. It was delicious and different in a good way. I felt like I was getting a high-quality drink without having to drop too much money on it as well, which can easily be a determining factor for some people.

I would highly recommend this to others. I would give it four and a half out of five stars. If you are looking for a different take on regular coffee or want to get a more flavorful iced coffee experience, I recommend trying the cold brew coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts.
